If you want an overview on the subject persisting (chronic) pain, I strongly suggest to get the book “Outsmart the pain” . You can order it on this site. Unfortunately it’s only in Swedish at this time.
Now then, why such unshamed advertising; why do I not recommend another book out there?
I trust my co-author Carin Hjulström’s words: “I wanted to write the book I wanted to find myself in the bookstore”.
Other recommendations:
In Sweden, SBU (Statens beredning för medicinsk och social utvärdering – Swedish agency for health technology assessment and assessment of social services) , has published several reports of the scientific state of medical treatments including persistent pain.
You find them here.
A later publication in English is done by NICE (The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) and can be found here.
If you want to dwell even further (or deeper) you can search among scientific papers. A tip is to go to https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ and then write your search terms. Why not start with “persistent pain” and see where you end up?
